Federal Staffing Resources is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner  for a Naval Health Clinic in historic, coastal Yorktown, Virginia just outside of Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to active duty service members, military retirees, and their families. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.

Position Overview:

-Obtain patient health and developmental history and perform/record a health appraisal including physical assessment and evaluation.

-Differentiate between normal findings and those that require consultation and/or referral

-Diagnose and Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses or minor trauma within legally accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, in collaboration with a physician, and /or in accordance with subsequent instructions.

-Order diagnostic tests as applicable.

-Formulate a health care plan for patients presenting for treatment to the emphasizing self-care responsibility through the participation of the patient, family, physician and other health care professionals.

-Request consultation or referrals with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

-Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.


-Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.

-Implement and participate in patient follow-up and modify the health care plan as needed.

-Analyze the results of the health care plan, modify the health care plan as needed, and implement and participate in follow-up.

-Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.


  • Adult or Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Practitioner certification
  • Advanced Practice Nurse license (any U.S. state or territory honored) 
  • Master's, Post-Master's or Doctorate degree from an advanced practice nursing program accredited by ACEN or the CCNE.
  • BLS through the AHA
